CONCERT FOR PIANO AND JAZZ ORCHESTRA
Franco D'Andrea
piano

Ensemble Mobile
conducted by
Corrado Guarino
music by F.
D'Andrea and C. Guarino
arrangements by C. Guarino
THE MEETING between
Ensemble mobile and Franco D'Andrea, a star of the Italian jazz,
is not simply the addition of an important soloist to the normal
orchestra, but also the attempt of a dialogue, unheard in jazz
history, between the piano and a big band.
THE COMPOSITIONS (all by Franco D'Andrea, except one by Corrado
Guarino, arranged by C.Guarino in close contact with the author)
are taken down and reassembled in search for a perfect
integration between writing and improvisation. The orchestra does
not limit itself to a generic background, but it is engaged in a
close speech with the soloist.
D'ANDREA'S EXPRESSIVE WORLD blends with an orchestral writing
that gives space prevantly to the rhythmic component, essential
jazz element, from suggestions of different origins.
